3 Things you NEED if you’re a lazy girl (like me!)

I’ll be the first one to admit that I take interest in almost anything that’s going to make my life just a little bit easier. As a parent of multiple small gremlins, my day can get hectic in a hurry. Sometimes I don’t have time to shower, or do my makeup, or do my hair – and hey, that’s ok!

I’ve rounded up a couple things that will make you feel human again in such a busy world.

  1. Dry Shampoo – Ladies. Run, don’t walk, to your nearest drugstore and pick up a bottle of this magical stuff. No time to wash your hair before running out the door? Pfft. Forget about it. Spray some of this stuff on your roots, wait a minute, and then brush it through – ta-da! You now have hair that looks like you just washed it yesterday. The dry shampoo absorbs the oil in your hair! The brand I swear by is Batiste, which you can find in most drugstores and places like Ulta.
  2. Toothy Tabs – If you’ve ever heard the term “bath bomb” then you most likely know about the company Lush. Made famous by their awesome bath products, Lush has so much more to offer – including something called toothy tabs! Tired of the same old toothpaste? Travelling and need something more convenient? Go to the Lush website and pick out a bottle of toothy tabs. Pop one in your mouth, crunch it up, and then use your wet toothbrush to brush your teeth like normal. Once you’re finished, rinse your mouth out and you’re done! They offer the classic minty fresh flavor and a few more non-traditional takes on cleaning up your mouth.
  3. Micellar Cleansing Water –  This stuff is so much more than just water! Skin care brands have been introducing their individual takes on this magical solution for a little while now, and all of them are time savers. This stuff removes ALL of your makeup (yes, even waterproof mascara!) and cleanses your skin, leaving you feeling refreshed (but not dried out!). Garnier‘s micellar water is only $8.99 for a 13.5 oz bottle, and alternatively, you can get more high-end options for around $25 per bottle. I found the infographic below on the garnier website and thought it was interesting so here you go!

Do you use anything that makes your life easier? If so, share it with me in the comments so I can check it out!

until next time!

3 Beauty Vloggers That You Should Be Following

If you’re anything like me, when you have a question about makeup, you turn to YouTube.

I mean, who wouldn’t? You can find almost anything on there. Rewind back to a couple months ago to when I was trying to figure out what the heck contouring was and I stumbled upon the magical land of beauty vloggers. After watching my first “haul” video I was hooked. Down the rabbit hole I went…and I must say, it’s been one sweet fall.

Let me introduce you to my three favorite beauty gurus! ♥

From left to right, we have:

Shannon Harris

Shannon, recognized more often as Shaaanxo, is a 23 yr old lipstick lover hailing from New Zealand. She’s been vlogging on YouTube since 2009 and she updates her channel with new video content 3 times a week. Y’all. This girl is. the. bomb. She is so creative with the different looks she comes up with and she’s incredibly down-to-earth and relatable. And those brows? TO DIE FOR.

Kathleen Fuentes

Better known as Kathleenlights, this girl is setting the new standard for a YouTube beauty vlogger. Not only is her channel becoming more popular by the day, but she’s collaborating with some big brand-name cosmetic companies. Makeup Geek? Colourpop? Ofra? If you recognize any of those brands then you know what I’m talking about. Her highlight palette with Makeup Geek is at the very top of my Christmas list this year.

Casey Holmes

Casey’s channel is the place to go to if you are curious about new products. This girl is always trying out new stuff, and she makes it a point to investigate a wide range of cosmetics – from super affordable brands like Essence and Wet n Wild to high-end luxury items. I love watching her videos because she really does understand what her viewers are looking for; 100% honest reviews with a shot of humor.

Of course, there are a LOT more beauty vloggers out there worth watching. These are just my top three!

Do you have a favorite YouTuber?

Let me know who in the comments!

Until next time! ♥ ♥

I wasn’t intending on posting again so soon but something has come to my attention and I feel like it needs to be addressed, so here it goes.

If you friend request me on facebook when we haven’t spoken in months (and we haven’t spoken because I FUCKING DELETED YOU) , and think that I don’t know what you’re doing, then you’re wrong. If you really want to know about my life then you can message me. Or better yet, stop worrying about what I’m doing and focus on your life. Maybe you’d still be in my circle if you didn’t do what you did. 🙂 Give that a little thought.

Also, I’m done with people who only acknowledge my existence when they want something from me/when it’s convenient for them. Bye!

If you find yourself removed from my personal facebook account after reading this, then consider yourself one of the above. I’m done being nice to y’all.

A quick Update

I have like 483294832 drafts sitting on the side, waiting to be finished but I think I’ll just write a fresh, quick note for you all.

I have made the decision to take my blog in a new direction. Back when I started blogging I had an entirely different idea about what I was going to do with it and now that I’m in a more clear head space, I’ve finally come to realize how I can use my blog to do what I want to do with it.

I know that’s incredibly vague! I’m still working on all my ideas and figuring out what my next blog post will be about.

So, until then!

One of my resolutions for this year is to update my glorious blog more often, so here I am!

In the midst of chaos the other day, my little piglet proclaimed the one word I’ve been waiting for: Mama. She hasn’t said it a whole lot since then, but I’m just glad that she knows how! I’ll settle for being #3 (#1 was Dada, #2 Minnie). She’s also very close to being able to crawl, even though she can get around fairly well by rolling. She’s eating some baby food once a day now, and so far she likes it. I tried some pureed sweet peas with her earlier and she liked it well enough. I think next time we go grocery shopping I’ll get some of those teething crackers so she can start figuring out how to feed herself.

Sarah has chewed through 3 pacifiers in the last week. I refuse to buy any more. She’s currently using the “emergency” one at naptime and bedtime right now, and we’ll eventually be weaning to just bedtime, and then none at all. I don’t anticipate it being easy for her, but maybe she’ll surprise me. She’s still being very picky about her food but I’m trying not to stress over it. As long as she eats something, I put it in the win column for the day.

The last few days Ray and I have been trying to get our house back in order. The holidays definitely took their tole on our living space (and our motivation! 😉 ), so on his second day off we took down all of the Christmas stuff (sigh), and put everything back where it went. He also cleaned both bathrooms and hung up a few things we received for Christmas. It was a wonderful team effort! Since then I’ve been trying to make a habit out of making a “to-do” list every morning so I’m better able to handle everything. So far, it seems to be working well. I got everything done on my list yesterday, and I’m about 3/4 of the way done with the one for today. My biggest challenges are usually ones that require that I be in the kitchen. Since I can’t see the kids from there, I have to stop and check on them frequently…so, a simple task like doing the dishes can take forever. Though, I must say that recently they’ve been good at behaving themselves while Mommy is busy.

Y’all, I have so many resolutions this year! I almost feel like I might be setting myself up for failure because I’ve made so many.

Like I mentioned at the beginning of this post, one of them happens to be that I spend more time on this blog. So! My next blog post will have a theme. I’m trying to decide between a post on: books, recipes, crafty DIY projects, or parenting. Which one would you like to see? Please let me know!

Until next time,

Christmas and The Year’s End

Anyone who knows me knows how excited I was for the holidays this year. And I must say…all of my hard work really did pay off! We had an absolutely beautiful and stress-free Christmas. Watching the kids open their presents is one of those things that I will never forget.

I told my husband the other day that I hate the south. Really, I don’t, I was just feeling a little bitter about it being 80 degrees on Christmas Day. On Friday our A/C unit was making a strange noise so I called our maintenance person over to take a look at it. Of course, both times I called him over here the dang thing stopped making any noise. He looked our unit over and told us that he didn’t think there was anything seriously wrong with it and that he would be back on Monday to check on it again. Well, on Christmas Day it just quit working all together. My husband ( who has a basic working knowledge of all things manly and electrical) thinks it’s the compressor. It’s Sunday now and I’m waiting for the emergency repair guy to come fix it.

Anyway! Christmas really was awesome. I cleaned out the girls’ toy box on Christmas Eve and it’s a dang good thing that I did! It’s full again now! Sarah and Lily are really enjoying all of their new stuff. I love watching them play together and explore. I got a few new things, myself that I’m quite excited about. My husband got me some books I’ve really been wanting to read and a beautiful cotton robe that I’ll be able to wear around the house if it ever gets cold again. My mother-in-law got us one of those Veggetti vegetable slicers and got me…a new HP all-in-one printer. This thing is awesome! I set it up last night and got to tinker with it a little bit. It has wireless capabilities, so I don’t even need to connect it to my computer to print stuff! It also scans and copies. I’m in love. My husband got a new beard trimmer and some beard oil (which he desperately needs…love you Buns!), a long sleeve flannel shirt, and a couple travel books he’s been after. OH! My husband also got me some wet skin moisturizer, and let me just say…my skin has never been so soft!

So, in just a few days 2015 will be over. The other day, while doing dishes, I called my husband into the kitchen to ask him a very important question.

Me: “Do people actually do the whole New Years’ Resolution thing anymore?”

Him: “Of course they do. I don’t stock treadmills at work in the beginning of January for nothing!”

Let me explain what I was thinking here. Over the last year I’ve seen a lot of people encouraging others to be proactive and make changes in their lives throughout the year, as they see fit. So, basically, stop waiting for a new year to try to fix everything that’s wrong. I totally get it – quit being a procrastinator and just do it! But what’s wrong with a little tradition and making goals for the new year? Nothing, I say!

I actually have quite a few goals for this new year. Here are a few of them so y’all can help keep me accountable! 😉

  1. Be a better wife and mama. (I know, I know. I’m not aiming for perfection here, but I DO think that my kids and Hubby deserve the best from me. And I’ll be damned if I don’t try my hardest to give it to them!)
  2. Find a good family doctor and get a physical. (I haven’t had this done in YEARS…aside from the typical stuff they monitor when you’re pregnant)
  3. Eat healthier and (maybe) start doing some yoga. (this one actually has multiple purposes. Obviously, to be healthier, and then to save some money.)
  4. Be more active on my blog and start using it the way I intended when I first created it. (stay tuned for more on that one 😉 )

So, there you go! Those are the big ones that I can think of right now. There are some smaller, more specific ones that I have in mind as well, but those will be written down in the daily planner that I intend on putting together now that I have a printer.

Well, this blog post is nearing about 1000 words so I think I’ll stop here.

What are your goals for the new year?

Until next time!

I think an introduction is in order!

For anyone who doesn’t personally know me, or maybe for someone who doesn’t know me well, here’s the basics;

I’m 26, living in North Carolina with my husband and daughter. I’m currently a stay-at-home mother, six months pregnant with daughter #2. I absolutely love a good book, and a good piece of sushi. I was born and raised in New Hampshire and yes, I do miss it. There’s just something about actual season change that makes me smile! 😛

As far as my religious and political beliefs go, I’m varied. Mostly I just believe in doing the right thing. That being said…I may cover a few “touchy” subjects on here that I have very strong views on. Feel free to comment when I make such a post, but remember: it’s my blog and if you don’t like it then you can kindly move on. 🙂

Well, I’m glad that’s out of the way!

The last few weeks have been very busy and chaotic for our little family. Husband and I are still trying to get our house the way we want it (or, as he would kindly remind me…de-cluttered!) and it hasn’t been going very well at all. I suspect it has something to do with the amount of stuff that is coming into our house versus the amount of stuff leaving. An to be honest, we have been busy busy almost every single day. I do the best I can during the day while Husband sleeps, but Daughter has NOT been having it lately. She just turned one at the end of January and she’s the size of a two year old already. She has 9 teeth and the latest one coming through is her first molar, which is probably the source of her utter crabbiness the last few weeks. This tooth is taking FOR-EV-ER to cut completely through and I might pull out half of my hair before it does. It is beyond me how some children have no problems with teething. I hate teeth. The End.

Yesterday was probably the busiest day we’ve had yet. We took our weekly shopping trip with my mother in the morning, then followed by a stop at Sam’s Club to grab a new bed frame to accommodate the new bed we’d be getting later in the day. When we arrived home, it was cleaning time. I vacuumed almost the entire house while Husband threw out our old mattress and box spring. While I was vacuuming upstairs, he decided to put together my new desk for me. All the while, Daughter was being fairly agreeable considering she wasn’t getting the attention she normally receives. In the evening, Husband’s friend helped him pick up the bed set from Sam’s while I made dinner. I can not tell you how excited I was for this new bed! The old bed that we tossed out had been broken for over a year, so I was looking forward restful night. Fast forward to bed time: I can’t sleep. I toss and turn for hours with no avail. Midnight arrives and I’m startled when I hear Daughter screaming from her room down the hall. Usually when this happens, I feed her and she goes back to sleep. But not this night! She does fall back asleep but when I try to put her back in her bed, she wakes immediately and starts crying. Lets just say it was a very long night.

Today was a little better. The only real thing we had to do was take Daughter to get her lead test. It wasn’t fun but she survived. She did get a couple naps, which was definitely something we both needed.

Well, it’s almost time for bed! Hopefully this night will go better than the last one did!

Love, Tasha
