I do believe it was a clear gloss. My mom also gave me some eyeshadow, which I think was Covergirl.

  1. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?

 

Black as my soul and length for days, that’s really all I ask for. The best one I’ve used so far is Makeup Forever Excessive Lash mascara. It’s my go-to right now but I’m still looking!

  1. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?

Usually medium. Thankfully I have fairly clear skin, so I don’t typically see the need for full coverage.

  1. Favorite high-end brand?

Urban Decay. ♥

  1. What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?

Right now, Colourpop is at the top of my list.

  1. Favorite Drugstore Brand?

           NYX. They’ve never disappointed me!

  1. Do you wear fake eyelashes?

Nope! Honestly, I probably would because I think they look fabulous, but my husband is totally freaked out by them lol! So I stay away for his sake haha.

  1. Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?

 

Nah. I regularly leave the house without it on!

  1. What is your most cherished beauty product?

Probably the set of Eco Tools brushes I have. My husband is amazing and randomly brought them home for me one day and they are amazing!

  1. How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or do you like to pick up all your goodies at once?

I really wish I could just pick everything up at once. It’s just not possible! Some stuff I like to get is only available online.

 

  1. Do you have a “beauty budget” or you spend freely?        

Oh, there’s a budget! Makeup is my weakness so if there’s no budget I go crazy. lol

  1. Do you utilize coupons, reward cards, and sales when you shop cosmetics?

Yes! The more you utilize those tools, the more you can afford.

  1. What type of product do you buy the most of?

The last couple months I’ve revamped my lipstick drawer, so I have a LOT of lip stuff right now and most of it is new. I really should write up some reviews for some of it!

  1. Is there a brand you can’t stand?

Unpopular opinion, but, Jeffree Star. I. CAN’T. STAND. HIM.

  1. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?

Unless I find it’s breaking me out, I really don’t care.

  1. Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?

Ulta and Walmart are the two places that I buy the most stuff from.

  1. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?

Since my skin isn’t overly sensitive, I LOVE trying out new stuff! Currently looking into some korean beauty stuff to try and review!

  1. Favorite bath and body brand?

I can’t say that I really have one! I do like everything I’ve tried from St. Ives though, but I think they would consider themselves more of a skin care brand.

  1. If you could only buy from one brand, which brand would it be?

Probably NYX or Urban Decay.

  1. What brand do you think has the best packaging?

Benefit and Too Faced both have really cute packaging. Etude House, a korean brand, also has some really awesome stuff.

  1. Which celebrity always has great makeup?

I don’t know if she’s really considered a “celebrity”, but I’m always in love with how Shannon Harris does her makeup.

  1. How many hair products do you use on a typical day?

Typically, none. My hair has really been through the wringer the last three years, so I’m trying to just let it rest for awhile.

  1. Do you belong to any online makeup communities?

Nope! Just my lil’ old blog on here!

  1. Are you clumsy when putting on makeup?

I’m horrible at putting on liquid eyeliner.

  1. Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?

I use both actually!

  1. Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?

YES! Multi-functional makeup and tools are my jam.

Shannon Harris (shaaanxo), Kathleenlights, and Casey Holmes. I really just have the three.

Foundation first always!

Yes! I would LOVE to! I’m completely self-taught right now but there’s always more to learn.

3 New Things I’m LOVING for Fall!

It’s September y’all!!

Fall is just a few weeks away, the days are getting shorter, and there’s pumpkin spice flavored stuff everywhere.  It’s the beginning of my favorite time of year – holiday season. Bring on the cozy sweaters and boots! Gimme that pumpkin donut and that dark red lipstick.

Just in time for fall, lots of companies have released new products that will fit in just perfectly with your wardrobe. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Essie & OPI

Just look at all of these beautiful colors! I can’t WAIT to get my hands on some of them! Now, normally, I’m and Essie girl when it comes to nail polish. But this fall release? I just feel like OPI is on the ball with this one. With names that are all Washington, DC themed, OPI has definitely hit the mark with all of the forest greens, deep purples, and a nice burnt orange. Essie, on the other hand, released a smaller selection with a japanese theme. All 6 colors released are perfect for fall and definitely worth checking out!

Colourpop just released the items for their yearly fall edit and it’s just lovely. With just a few things to choose from, Colourpop came out with 4 lip products and 2 eyeshadows – all with  nice, deep, berry tones.

Benefit

Not long ago, Benefit released their new line of brow products. Have you seen them? They’re beautiful. But, they’re also expensive. I am all about finding deals and steals, and I definitely found one worth sharing. I was scrolling through the Ulta website about a week ago when I found this!

Guuuuyyyyyys! This kit is ONLY $34!! It comes with 2 FULL SIZE products and two mini’s. Can you feel my excitement!? This kit is worth $59 and you get it for only $34. If you love doing your brows, this is definitely a must have!

Selfie Sunday! | Author Update

Happy Sunday everyone! I thought since I have a ton more followers that maybe every once in awhile I should do a “personal” post so we can all get to know each other a bit better!

I have decided that the kids and I are not getting out of our PJ’s today and we shall have a lazy sunday. My hair, nails, and eyebrows are in desperate need of attention but I just don’t feel like it! Oh well, tomorrow is a new day.

My husband even went to bed early today (he works overnight, so he sleeps during the day). Usually we watch Netflix for awhile and he spends some time with the girls before he retires upstairs to unwind. He barely made it through a whole episode of Supernatural without dozing off. Though I can’t blame him – he hasn’t been feeling well lately, so I’m sure any extra sleep he can get will help.

I have been really into all things lip related lately, and I just watched a swatch/review on the new Urban Decay lip palettes coming out soon, and I can’t wait! They look perfect. AND! I have a $10 coupon that I can use. Score!

Mini Review | Katy Kat Matte Lipstick

Hey y’all!

I’m back today with a little mini review I’ve been meaning to post for awhile.

Katy Perry recently collab’d  with Covergirl to release a line of demi-matte lipsticks that reflect her bold style. There are 11 shades to choose from in a wide range of colors. I chose two to try, just to see how I liked them.

On the left, we have “Catoure”, which is a berry mauve. And on the right, is “Coral Cat” which is a true coral color.

Both of these shades go on very smoothly. They feel buttery on the lips and didn’t dry me out at all. Overall, I feel like this line of lipsticks would be great for anyone!

3 Things you NEED if you’re a lazy girl (like me!)

I’ll be the first one to admit that I take interest in almost anything that’s going to make my life just a little bit easier. As a parent of multiple small gremlins, my day can get hectic in a hurry. Sometimes I don’t have time to shower, or do my makeup, or do my hair – and hey, that’s ok!

I’ve rounded up a couple things that will make you feel human again in such a busy world.

 

  1. Dry Shampoo – Ladies. Run, don’t walk, to your nearest drugstore and pick up a bottle of this magical stuff. No time to wash your hair before running out the door? Pfft. Forget about it. Spray some of this stuff on your roots, wait a minute, and then brush it through – ta-da! You now have hair that looks like you just washed it yesterday. The dry shampoo absorbs the oil in your hair! The brand I swear by is Batiste, which you can find in most drugstores and places like Ulta.
  2. Toothy Tabs – If you’ve ever heard the term “bath bomb” then you most likely know about the company Lush. Made famous by their awesome bath products, Lush has so much more to offer – including something called toothy tabs! Tired of the same old toothpaste? Travelling and need something more convenient? Go to the Lush website and pick out a bottle of toothy tabs. Pop one in your mouth, crunch it up, and then use your wet toothbrush to brush your teeth like normal. Once you’re finished, rinse your mouth out and you’re done! They offer the classic minty fresh flavor and a few more non-traditional takes on cleaning up your mouth.
  3. Micellar Cleansing Water –  This stuff is so much more than just water! Skin care brands have been introducing their individual takes on this magical solution for a little while now, and all of them are time savers. This stuff removes ALL of your makeup (yes, even waterproof mascara!) and cleanses your skin, leaving you feeling refreshed (but not dried out!). Garnier‘s micellar water is only $8.99 for a 13.5 oz bottle, and alternatively, you can get more high-end options for around $25 per bottle. It was a neon pink shade from one of the brands that Kohl’s carries. The exact name is escaping me right now.

3.  What is your most worn lipstick?

“Thalia” by NYX. The perfect “my lips but better” shade.

4.  What is your favourite brand for lipsticks?

NYX, definitely.

5.  What is your favourite finish?

What can I say? Matte all the way.

6. What is the last lipstick you bought?

Katy Kat Matte Lipstick in “Perry Panther” by Covergirl. My first black lipstick!

7.  How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?

Most of the time I’m lugging around a huge diaper bag, so none. On the rare occasion I just have my purse with me, then I’ll throw my lip balm in there.

8.  What lipstick do you use to rock a red lip?

Honestly, I’m not huge on the classic red lip. I know, I know. I think I have a nice red lip crayon by Palladio in my drawer though.

9.  How do you store your lipsticks?

I have plastic storage for all of my cosmetics at the moment, but there’s a rumor that I’ll be getting a makeup table for Christmas! 😉

10.  What lip products are you currently lusting over?

That’s a pretty long list! But the one at the very top is “Criminal” by Urban Decay’s Vice line. It will be mine!

Do or Don’t? | Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme

Welcome back everyone! I’m here today to bring you a short review of something interesting I received in my September Ipsy bag!

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme (trial size)

I’m not gonna lie, I was seriously excited to try this out for two reasons :

  1. Too Faced products are awesome!
  2. Bigger lips without surgery? Sign me up!

Y’all, I was so ready to love this. I really was! So let me tell you what happened and why I don’t exactly love it.

There’s a warning right on the box it comes it that it might tingle for about 5-10 minutes after you apply it. Makes sense, right? It’s gotta work it’s magic somehow. Well, it doesn’t tingle. It BURNS. Now I would’ve been totally cool with the burning, but I wasn’t expecting it! So, if you intend on trying this out, you’ve been warned!

Given the amount and duration of burning, I figured my lips were going to be Kardashian sized, but sadly they weren’t. Proof below.

It did, however, render them a nice shade of red. But that didn’t last too long either.

I will say this! As far as being a gloss goes, it’s great after it stops burning. Very comfortable on the lips. It also smells really good and comes in a cute tube! If you also received this in your Ipsy bag this month, definitely give it a try. It’s fun in a novelty kind of way! BUT!! If you intend on spending the $28 it costs for the full size, I can’t recommend it. In my personal opinion, it’s definitely not worth that much money.

Unfortunately, this is a DON’T in my book. 😦

If you’re anything like me, when you have a question about makeup, you turn to YouTube.

 

I mean, who wouldn’t? You can find almost anything on there. Rewind back to a couple months ago to when I was trying to figure out what the heck contouring was and I stumbled upon the magical land of beauty vloggers. After watching my first “haul” video I was hooked. Down the rabbit hole I went…and I must say, it’s been one sweet fall.

Shannon Harris

Shannon, recognized more often as Shaaanxo, is a 23 yr old lipstick lover hailing from New Zealand. She’s been vlogging on YouTube since 2009 and she updates her channel with new video content 3 times a week. Y’all. This girl is. the. bomb. She is so creative with the different looks she comes up with and she’s incredibly down-to-earth and relatable. And those brows? TO DIE FOR.

Kathleen Fuentes

Better known as Kathleenlights, this girl is setting the new standard for a YouTube beauty vlogger. Not only is her channel becoming more popular by the day, but she’s collaborating with some big brand-name cosmetic companies. Makeup Geek? Colourpop? Ofra? If you recognize any of those brands then you know what I’m talking about. Her highlight palette with Makeup Geek is at the very top of my Christmas list this year.

Casey Holmes

Casey’s channel is the place to go to if you are curious about new products. This girl is always trying out new stuff, and she makes it a point to investigate a wide range of cosmetics – from super affordable brands like Essence and Wet n Wild to high-end luxury items. I love watching her videos because she really does understand what her viewers are looking for; 100% honest reviews with a shot of humor.

 

Of course, there are a LOT more beauty vloggers out there worth watching. These are just my top three!

Ride or Die Makeup tag…kind of?

In case any of my fellow makeup addicts have been out-of-the-loop lately, let me explain what this “ride or die” makeup tag is and where it came from!

The idea is that if you were stuck on a deserted island and had to pick ONE thing from each category (primer, foundation, concealer, ect…) , which products would you pick? What are your all-time absolute favorite makeup products ever? This idea has been popular lately because famous beauty guru and youtuber, Jaclyn Hill, recently put out her video with all of her Ride or Die picks. You can watch that video here.

So, today, I have rounded up all my faves to share with you all! You’ll notice there’s a few things missing…that’s because I’m still hunting for a favorite!

I’m looking at my list now and a few things come to mind. I definitely should’ve left out that NARS blush. I know, I know! It was the first high-end piece of makeup I ever owned, so I guess I love it because of that? I’ve just never loved the pigmentation on it. I have other blushes that have better color payoff, but I don’t really *love* those either. I’m picky I guess, I don’t know.

All of the other stuff on here though, I do legit love. I use this stuff constantly!
